Other Scholarship Opportunities

 

21st Century Scholars

Eligibility: Income-eligible 6th, 7th and 8th graders who enroll in the program and fulfill a pledge of good citizenship to the state are guaranteed the cost of four years of undergraduate college tuition at any participating public college or university in Indiana. If the student attends a private institution, the state will award an amount comparable to that of a public institution.

Aaron Norwood Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility: Deserving students seeking higher education. Higher Education consists of, but is not limited to College, University, Trade School, Apprenticeship, GED, Certification, License.  A burn survivor with at least 1 year of attendance at Hoosier Burn Camp, Inc. Stronger consideration to applicants with longer tenure, especially those who have participated in the C.I.L.T. program (Camper in Leadership Training). In good standing academically currently. Consideration will be given to applicants who have shown effort during their last education period. Applicant can also apply both application terms. Special consideration will be given to applicants who have not yet received application grant money.

Amount of aid available: Up to $1,000 award

Alexander Hamilton Friends Association

Eligibility: Junior in high school; Is college bound; Has a strong record of community service; Shows a strong commitment to their academic studies; Is a self starter and has proven this through activities such as: organizing a fundraiser, starting a business, creating a club or organization or working to help support their family; Shows passion for and commitment to their interests. This is often manifested in athletic, artistic or academic achievements; Has financial and/or personal need. Hamilton Friends serves students from low-income households. When choosing our winners we take the applicant's financial, family and community situation into consideration; Is committed to enrolling in the Hamilton Leaders Academy

Amount of aid available: The Hamilton Leaders Academy is a No Student Cost Program. Winners Receive: $500 Cash Scholarship, Leadership Training in Seattle (2013) and in Guatemala (2014), College Application Assistance, Scholarship Search Assistance, And Much More! We help our winners find scholarships, prepare college essays and develop goal setting techniques as well as strategic thinking skills.

The Buick Achievers Scholarship

Sponsor: GM Foundation

Eligibility: Designed to help students who are leaders in both the classroom and their communities, but who may not have the financial means to attend college. The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program will award: Up to $25,000 per year for 100 students and $2,000 per year for 1,000 students. We encourage students to apply who will be enrolling full-time as a first-time freshman at a 4-year college or university; plan to major in one of the following: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing or Design; and have an interest in a career in the automotive or related industries

Hoosier Presidential Scholarship

Sponsor: Indiana University

Eligibility: Must be an entering freshman who is an Indiana resident and who has been admitted to Indiana University. These students are invited by the campus to apply for the scholarship. Recipients are named in late January.

Amount of aid available: Four-year renewable scholarships range from $6,000 to $12,000.

Indiana Farm Bureau - Carolyn Burkle Scholarship

Eligibility: Eligible students must have been accepted into a higher education institution and live in Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Jasper, Newton, Tippecanoe or white counties.

Amount of aid available: $1,000 award

Indiana Sheriffs' Association

Sponsor: Indiana Sheriffs' Association

Eligibility: Will award 40 scholarships of $500 each to high school seniors and college students pursuing a degree in criminal justice. Applicants must be Indiana residents and full-time students majoring in a law enforcement field at an Indiana college or university. They must also be members, or a dependent child or grandchild or someone who is a member, of the Sheriffs' Association.

Jeannette Rankin Fund

Eligibility: Eligible students must be:  a woman; A U.S. citizen or permanent resident;  Age 35 or older, as of March 1, 2012; Low-income (financial guidelines are available on our website); Enrolled in or accepted to a regionally or ACICS accredited school; Pursuing a vocational education, an associate's degree, or a first bachelor's degree.

Mary E. Denham Scholarship Fund

Sponsor: American Red Cross of Tippecanoe County

Eligibility: Will provide health and safety classes for those who are unable to afford them. Includes CPR/AED, first aid and life guarding classes that the chapter offers. Candidate must write an essay (max 100 words) describing why they need the scholarship. Must also explain how they believe that others will benefit from their successful completion of the course for which they are applying. Candidates can only apply and be chosen once.

Amount of aid available: Maximum amount - $65. Includes the amount of the class, participant manuals and any other additional supplies required for the course.

Nursing Home Abuse.net - Awareness and Prevention Scholarship

Eligibility:  Exclusively for US students pursuing a degree that will help combat nursing home abuse. The scholarship will cover non-tuition related expenses such as rent, childcare, textbooks, utilities and groceries for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Amount of aid available: $5,000

Shirley Martin Scholarship for Young Songwriters

Eligibility: The Shirley Martin Scholarship for Young Songwriters is for songwriters between the ages of 14 and 19, who live in any of these Indiana counties: Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Jasper, Montgomery, Newton, Pulaski, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Warren or White.

Amount of aid available: A cash award to be applied towards the winner’s education or other songwriting endeavor, the opportunity to play at the annual Shirley Martin Scholarship for Young Songwriters awards ceremony and other events, and local publicity
