Congratulations! You’ve been
selected for an interview – now you’re wondering what to
expect. Here are some things you may have questions
about; feel free to contact us if you have additional
questions. • Interviews last
twenty to thirty minutes and are an opportunity for our
committee members to get to know you a little better.
• You don’t need to do anything special to prepare but please
bring a copy of your senior picture or a similar photo
for our files (full-head portrait photos only, please).
• Plan on arriving about ten minutes before your
interview time.
• Click here for a map. If you dropped off your
application in person, you’ve already been to Elmhurst
Community Building and know where to come.
If you’ve never interviewed before you
may find the following helpful:
• Be on time.
• It's normal and okay to be nervous.
• Be yourself. You got this far because the committee
considers you special just as you are.
• Make eye contact as you're being interviewed, even if
you tend to be shy.
• Shake hands when introduced to people, if possible.
• It's normal not to remember every name.
• Be polite. "Please" and "thank you" are never out of
style. Being chosen to interview means that you are very
special; remember to thank the committee for the
opportunity.
• Dress neatly and cleanly and practice basic good
grooming. Shoes can be a personal care "give away" --
they don't have to be new, but they should be polished
or clean.
• Be honest. If you don't have an answer for a question,
or don't understand it, it's ok to say so. |
