A continuing education series designed to improve the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations by strengthening boards of directors has been developed by The Community Foundation and is being jointly sponsored by NCHS, United Way of Greater Lafayette, and The Community Foundation. This series is especially designed for the volunteer leaders on the Boards of Not-For-Profit Corporations.

The purpose of this program is to strengthen and sustain Not-For-Profit Boards by building knowledge about responsible oversight and governance, and effective responses to policy and management issues faced by today’s Not-For-Profit volunteer leaders. The continuing education series is designed for, and limited to, Board volunteers and Executive Directors.

Leading regional and national instructors, with expertise in topics relating to board governance and leadership, will present information essential to guiding and sustaining Not-For-Profits.  A networking reception with refreshments will conclude each session.

Selection is competitive. A limited number of seats are available. The registration fee is $150 for the 2010 series of 10 sessions or $20 per individual session. Applicants who opt to not attend all sessions still must apply. Priority will be given to those applying for the entire series.
