Baseball Tomorrow Fund

Sponsor:  Major League Baseball and Major League Players Association

Purpose: Supports youth efforts that increase youth participation in baseball and softball. Funding can be used for program costs, facilities and equipment. Supports youth leagues that increase access to baseball and softball, especially minorities and girls between the ages of 10-16

The Book Donation Program

Sponsor:  US Department of Education and First Book

Purpose: REGISTER NOW AT http://register.firstbook.org/  to access free new books through the Book Donation Campaign. The Campaign is a multi-year effort of the U.S. Department of Education, First Book and a host of major U.S. book publishing companies to promote literacy and supply books to children in need. In support of the Campaign, First Book secures publisher donations and identifies the recipient groups, while the U.S. Department of Education warehouses and ships books free-of-charge from its national distribution center.

Childcare Programs for At-Risk Children: Early Child Care and Education Grants

Purpose: Fund direct service grants focusing on tuition subsidies, small renovation projects, supplies and equipment upgrades, playground construction and staff development opportunities and funds capital support for new buildings and large renovation projects that will increase the availability of high-quality care and education in low-income, urban communities.

Clergy Renewal Program - 2009

Purpose: Funds grants of up to $50,000 each to support renewal programs for pastors of Indiana congregations. Up to $15,000 of that amount may be used to help the congregation fulfill pastoral duties during the pastor's absence and/or to support renewal activities for the congregation itself.

Coca-Cola Foundation

Computers for Learning (CFL)

Sponsor:  US Federal Government, General Services Administration

Purpose: The CFL program evolved as a guide for implementing Executive Order 12999, Educational Technology: Ensuring Opportunity for all Children in the Next Century. The executive order encourages agencies, to the extent permitted by law, to transfer computers and related peripheral equipment excess to their needs directly to schools and some educational nonprofit organizations. The CFL program specifically matches the computer needs of schools and educational nonprofit organization with excess equipment in Federal agencies.

Learn and Serve America

Purpose: Approximately $40 million in grant funds will be available, subject to congressional appropriation, to support service-learning projects in a variety of settings. The grant funds will be divided between school-based, community-based, higher education, and tribal and U.S. territory programs. The funding is for the 2006-2007 school year, with possible continued funding for two more years.

Teacher of the Year

The Young Parents Demonstration Program

Sponsor:  U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration

Purpose: Funds demonstration grants that target the employment and training needs of young parents. The Young Parents Demonstration program is to provide educational and occupational skills training leading to family economic self sufficiency to both mothers and fathers, and expectant mothers ages 16 to 24. Projects funded will be encouraged to serve young parents in high-risk categories, including those who are court-involved, in the child welfare or foster care system, homeless, or victims of child abuse.

Grant range: Five to seven grants of $500,000 - $1 million each.

YouthBuild

Sponsor:  U.S. Department of Labor

Purpose: Funds hands on experiences that help at-risk youth complete their education and successfully enter the job market. The program expands affordable housing in low-income communities while providing vocational training to youth in the juvenile justice system, youth aging out of foster care, high school drop outs and other at-risk populations. Grant range: a total of $47 million will be granted.
